The Renovation - Back to Life, Stone by Stone a New Life for an Old Stone House
When we discovered the old stone house in Vrboska, it was love at first sight. Despite the crumbling walls, we sensed its special charm. We decided to restore it – stone by stone, with patience and attention to detail.
The renovation was challenging, but the goal was clear: to preserve the character of the house and incorporate modern comforts. The exposed stone walls, restored wooden beams, and small windows soon once again captured the warm light of Hvar.
With the furnishings, we brought Mediterranean coziness into the house – rustic wooden furniture and soft natural tones created a warm, inviting atmosphere. The terrace was a perfect place to relax.
The Furnishings – With Attention to Detail
After the last stone was laid and the walls were freshly plastered, the most beautiful part began: the furnishing. We wanted the house to retain its soul – a blend of traditional charm and Mediterranean flair.
We selected furniture that matched the history of the house: a rustic wooden table for long evenings with good food, cozy armchairs for relaxing after a day by the sea, and soft natural tones that reflect the light and atmosphere of the island. Handmade ceramics, light linen fabrics, and subtle maritime accents completed the picture.
Outside, on the small stone terrace, we planted an olive tree and fragrant lavender. A place to enjoy your first coffee in the morning with a view of the harbor peeking out between the houses, or to wind down the day with a glass of wine in the evening.
The thought of renting out – sharing what we love
When the house was finished, we realized: We didn't want to keep this special place just for ourselves. We wanted to share it with people who appreciate the beauty of Hvar, the serenity of Vrboska, and the charm of an old stone house just as much as we do.
The decision to rent out our lovingly renovated house was an easy one. We imagined guests returning after a day by the sea, enjoying the cool breeze on the terrace, and feeling a little bit at home here – just like we do.
And so we opened the doors, ready to welcome our guests. Because what could be more beautiful than sharing a place full of history, love, and warmth with others?
